    From Kigwena National Reserve, take the main road heading south towards the town of Buyengero. Continue on this road for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Bujumbura-Makamba road. Turn left onto the Bujumbura-Makamba road and follow this road for about 45 kilometers. Once you reach the town of Rumonge, continue on the same road until you arrive at the shores of Lake Tanganyika. At this point, you will need to find a boat service to take you across the lake to Mwamgongo, the nearest point to Gombe National Park. The boat ride typically costs around $10 to $15 per person and takes about 30-45 minutes.

Buses usually depart from local stations and will cost around 2,000 BIF (Burundian Francs) for the ride to Rumonge.
