Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the central market in Assomada, known as Mercado Municipal. From the market, head south along Avenida Amílcar Cabral for about 600 meters until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Rua 5 de Julho. Continue straight for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Rua da Liberdade. Turn left onto Rua da Liberdade and walk for another 500 meters. You will then reach a sign pointing towards Malagueta. Follow this path as it begins to ascend the mountain. The hike to Malagueta will take about 30 minutes, so ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

• Public Transport (Minibus)

  From the central market in Assomada, locate the minibus station. Board a minibus heading towards the town of Achada Igreja. Inform the driver that you will be getting off at the stop for Malagueta, which is a popular destination, and they will assist you. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you disembark, follow the trail signs to hike up to Malagueta. The hike will take about 30 minutes, so prepare accordingly.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, start at the central market in Assomada. Ride south on Avenida Amílcar Cabral for about 600 meters to reach the roundabout. Take the first exit onto Rua 5 de Julho and continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Rua da Liberdade. Turn left and cycle for another 500 meters. You will see signs for Malagueta. The ride should take around 10 minutes, and then you can park your bicycle and hike for about 30 minutes to reach the peak.
