Getting There

  • Car

    From Santa Maria, head north on the main road (Route 1) towards Espargos. Continue driving for approximately 15 km until you reach the intersection near the town of Espargos. At the roundabout in Espargos, take the second exit onto Route 1 towards Palmeira. Drive for another 10 km, and you will see signs for Ponta Preta. Follow the signs, and after another 5 km, you will arrive at Ponta Preta. There are no entry fees, but be mindful of parking regulations in the area.

  • Public Transportation (Minibus)

    From Santa Maria, you can take a minibus (often referred to as 'aluguer') heading towards Espargos. The fare is typically around 150 CVE (Cabo Verdean Escudo). Once you arrive in Espargos, you will need to transfer to another minibus that goes towards Palmeira. This second leg of the journey will cost approximately 100 CVE. Inform the driver you wish to go to Ponta Preta when you board. The entire journey may take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on waiting times and traffic.
