Know before you go

Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring GoCar Tours.

  • Book in advance, especially during peak season, to secure your preferred tour and time slot.
  • Consider a longer rental to fully explore San Francisco's diverse neighborhoods and attractions.
  • Be mindful of parking regulations, as GoCars need to be parked like regular vehicles.
  • Opt for an electric GoCar for a quieter, faster, and more eco-friendly experience.

Discover more about GoCar Tours

GoCar Tours provides a distinctive and engaging way to experience San Francisco. Ditch the crowded tour buses and explore the city's iconic landmarks and hidden gems in a compact, three-wheeled vehicle equipped with GPS-guided audio tours. The GoCar concept was created in 2003, with the tour service launching in San Francisco in April 2004. The software that drives the GoCar tour was patented in 2005. The GoCars have an integrated audio GPS system that provides driving instructions and tour guide-style commentary. Choose from several tour options, including routes that take you across the Golden Gate Bridge (in certain electric models), through Golden Gate Park, or to the Painted Ladies. The GPS system guides you, offering historical and cultural insights along the way. You can stop wherever you like, take photos, and explore at your own pace. GoCars are easy to drive, and drivers must be 21 years or older with a valid driver's license. Be aware that GoCars cannot be driven on freeways or roads with speed limits exceeding 45 mph. Also, the Golden Gate Bridge is not accessible for the classic GoCar.
