Public Transport
From downtown San Francisco, several Muni lines and Golden Gate Transit buses provide access to various points within the GGNRA. For example, the Muni F Line connects to the Alcatraz Island Ferry Terminal at Pier 33. Golden Gate Transit lines 101, 132, and 150 will transport passengers from San Francisco to Marin Headlands. Check 511.org or the individual transit agency websites for schedules and routes. A one-way trip on Golden Gate Transit from San Francisco to Marin City costs $5-$8.

Driving
The GGNRA can be reached by Highways 1, 101, and 280 from the north and south San Francisco Bay Area, and by Highway 80 over the Bay Bridge from the East Bay. Keep in mind that parking can be limited, especially at popular locations. Parking fees vary by location; for example, parking at the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center is $5/hour. Some beaches like Baker Beach, Lands End Lookout, and Rodeo Beach may have parking fees of $3 per hour or $10 daily. Tolls are collected electronically only, in the southbound direction on the Golden Gate Bridge. As of July 1, 2025, the toll for passenger cars is $9.75 for FasTrak users and $10.00 for pay-by-plate.
