If you are staying in Big Sur, start by heading south on Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway). Walk towards the Garrapata State Park entrance, which is approximately 7 miles south of the Big Sur River Inn. Keep an eye out for signs for Garrapata State Park. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you will need to find the trailhead for Garrapata Trail. Follow the signs to the trailhead, which is located on the west side of Highway 1. The Calla Lily Valley is a short hike from the trailhead, so ensure you have comfortable shoes and water. The trail can be steep and may require some climbing, but it is well marked. From any location in Big Sur, you will need to take the Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) bus service. The MST Route 22 can take you south towards Carmel. You will likely need to get off at the closest stop and then walk back north to the park entrance. After disembarking, walk back along Highway 1 until you find the entrance to Garrapata State Park.
