Driving
From Highway 1, watch for the unmarked Sycamore Canyon Road between the Big Sur Ranger Station and the post office. The turnoff is approximately 1 mile south of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. Sycamore Canyon Road is narrow and winding, with limited space for RVs and trailers. Follow this road for about 2 miles to reach the Pfeiffer Beach Day Use parking area. Parking costs $15 per vehicle. Be prepared for limited parking, especially during peak season.
Public Transport
During the summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), a shuttle service operates from the Big Sur Station to Pfeiffer Beach. Parking at the Big Sur Station costs $10, and the shuttle is $5 per person. The shuttle runs from 11 am to 7 pm, with departures every 20 minutes. Be aware that the last shuttle may return before sunset.
Walking
If the Pfeiffer Beach parking lot is full, you can park along Highway 1 and walk down Sycamore Canyon Road. This adds approximately 3 miles roundtrip to your visit. Be cautious of traffic on the narrow road.
