Start your journey at the Big Sur River Inn, located at 46840CA-1, Big Sur, CA 93920. From the inn, head south on CA-1 (Pacific Coast Highway) along the road for approximately 1.5 miles. Enjoy the stunning coastal views along the way. Keep an eye out for the Point Sur Lighthouse, which is a prominent landmark. Continue walking until you reach the entrance to Point Sur Naval Facility, which is near the intersection of CA-1 and the access road leading to the facility.
Biking
If you are biking, begin at the Big Sur Campground and Cabins located at 47240 CA-1. From there, head south on CA-1 towards the Point Sur Naval Facility. The distance is about 2 miles. The bike-friendly path runs parallel to the highway, offering great views. As you approach the facility, be cautious of any traffic and follow the signs that direct you towards Point Sur.
Hiking
For a more adventurous route, start at the Andrew Molera State Park, located about 6 miles north of the Point Sur Naval Facility. Follow the trails leading towards the coast, then connect to the cliffside paths that lead southward along the coastline. This route may take longer and involve some elevation changes, but it offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. After approximately 3 miles of hiking south, you will find yourself near the entrance to the Point Sur Naval Facility.
