From the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, head south on Ocean Avenue towards San Carlos Street. Turn right onto San Carlos Street and continue walking until you reach 7th Avenue. Turn left onto 7th Avenue and walk a few blocks until you reach the intersection with Dolores Street. Turn right onto Dolores Street. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with CA-1. The Carmelite Monastery will be located on your left at 27601 CA-1. Note that this is a longer walk, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.

If you are near the Carmel Plaza, you can take the Monterey-Salinas Transit Bus Line 1. Board the bus at the Carmel Plaza stop and ride it towards Monterey. Get off at the stop for Carmel River State Beach. From there, it is about a 20-minute walk to the Carmelite Monastery. Head north on CA-1 and look for the monastery on your right at 27601 CA-1.
