Getting There

  • Public Transit

    From Chula Vista, head to the nearest bus stop. You can catch the MTS Bus Route 703 towards San Diego. Make sure to board the bus going in the direction of Downtown San Diego. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes, and get off at the 'Broadway & 4th' stop. Once you disembark, walk towards the Gaslamp Quarter. From there, transfer to the MTS Bus Route 7. Board the bus heading towards 'Balboa Park', and ride for about 15 minutes until you reach the 'Zoo Dr & Park Blvd' stop. The San Diego Zoo will be a short walk from there; just follow the signs leading to the entrance.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Chula Vista. Start by heading north on the Bayfront Bike Path. Follow the path along the water for beautiful views. After about 7 miles, merge onto the bike lane on Harbor Drive, continuing towards downtown San Diego. Once you reach the downtown area, follow the signs for Balboa Park. The route will take you through some scenic neighborhoods. Upon reaching Balboa Park, look for signs directing you to the San Diego Zoo entrance, which is located at 2920 Zoo Dr.

    For those who enjoy walking, make your way to the nearest trolley station in Chula Vista. Take the Blue Line Trolley towards San Diego. Ride the trolley for about 35 minutes, and get off at the 'City College' station. From there, walk towards Balboa Park, which should take you around 25 minutes. Follow the signs to the park, and once inside, make your way to 2920 Zoo Dr, where the San Diego Zoo is located.
