Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Gold Country, head towards Grass Valley. If you are on Highway 49, take the exit for East Main Street toward Grass Valley. Follow East Main Street until it merges into E. Empire Street. Continue on E. Empire Street for approximately 1.5 miles. The entrance to Empire Mine State Historic Park will be on your right at 10791 E Empire St, Grass Valley, CA 95945. Parking is available at the park entrance, which may incur a small fee (check local signs for current rates).

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will need to check for local bus services that operate in the Gold Country area. The Gold Country Stage provides bus services throughout Nevada County. Board a bus heading to Grass Valley. Once you arrive at the Grass Valley Transit Center, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service (such as Uber or Lyft) for the remaining 2 miles to Empire Mine State Historic Park, as public transportation options may not directly reach the park. Be prepared for this additional cost for the taxi or rideshare.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer to bike, Grass Valley has bike-friendly routes. Start from downtown Grass Valley and take Idaho Maryland Road to E. Empire Street. Follow E. Empire Street for about 1.5 miles. Be cautious, as some stretches of the road may have vehicle traffic. There are bike racks available at the park entrance.

• Walking

  If you are staying within walking distance of the park, head towards E. Empire Street from your accommodation in Grass Valley. The park is about 1.5 miles from the downtown area. Follow the pedestrian pathways along E. Empire Street. Be mindful of the traffic, and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
