Menlo Park was founded in the 1850s by two Irish immigrants, Dennis J. Oliver and his brother-in-law D.C. McGlynn, who purchased a 1,700-acre tract of land. They named their new property 'Menlo Park' after their ancestral home in Menlo, County Galway, Ireland.
