From Capitola Village, the beach is easily accessible on foot. Simply head towards the Esplanade, and you'll find direct access points to the sandy shore. Orientation is straightforward, with the colorful Venetian Court buildings serving as a prominent landmark. No special transport or tolls are required.
Public Transport
If arriving via Santa Cruz Metro bus, disembark at the Capitola Mall. From there, transfer to Route 55 which will take you directly to Capitola Village. From the bus stop in the village, Capitola State Beach is a short walk towards the Esplanade. A single ride on Santa Cruz Metro costs approximately $2-$7.
Driving
For those driving, navigate towards Capitola Village. Be aware that parking in the immediate vicinity is limited to 2-3 hours and can be difficult to find, especially during peak season. Consider parking in the Beach and Village Parking Lots (Upper and Lower) located behind City Hall at 420 Capitola Avenue. Parking costs $1 per hour, up to a maximum of 12 hours. Alternatively, longer-term parking (4-hour and 12-hour) is available on Cliff Drive, west of the Village, at $2 per hour.
Taxi/Ride-Share
From anywhere in the Santa Cruz area, a taxi or ride-share service (Uber/Lyft) can provide direct transport to Capitola Village. From there, the beach is a short walk. Expect to pay approximately $24-$29 for a ride from downtown Santa Cruz.
