If you're driving from North Bay, start by taking US-101 South. Continue on US-101 for approximately 100 miles until you reach the exit for CA-46 West towards Cambria. Merge onto CA-46 West and follow it for about 30 miles. Turn right onto CA-1 North and drive for about 10 miles. Finally, turn left onto Hearst Castle Road, where you will find Hearst Castle at 750 Hearst Castle Rd, San Simeon, CA 93452. Note that parking is available on-site, and there is a fee of approximately $10.

To reach Hearst Castle via public transportation, take a Greyhound bus from North Bay to San Luis Obispo. From the San Luis Obispo Greyhound station, transfer to the local bus service (SLO Transit) and take Route 15 towards Cambria. Get off at the Hearst Castle stop. Be aware that the bus schedule may vary, so check the latest timings online. The total cost for the bus ride may be around $30-$50 one way, depending on your departure point and booking.

If you prefer, you can drive to Cambria and then take the Hearst Castle shuttle. From North Bay, follow the same driving directions to CA-46 West and then CA-1 North until you reach Cambria. In Cambria, you can find the Hearst Castle shuttle service that operates during the day. This shuttle will take you directly to the castle entrance. The shuttle service may charge a fee of around $15 for a round trip.
