The Battle of Fort Blakeley, involving over 16,000 soldiers, occurred on April 9, 1865, the same day as the Confederate surrender. Today, visitors can explore the park's diverse natural environment, home to wildlife including alligators, black bears, turtles, and bald eagles. Over 20 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails wind through the woodlands. Boat tours are available, offering a chance to explore the Mobile-Tensaw Delta and observe its unique ecosystems. The park also offers RV and tent camping, cabins, and an event center.
