Discover more about Oceano Park

Oceano Park is more than just a park; it's a focal point for the Oceano community and visitors alike. Historically, the area was a favorite hunting and fishing ground for the Chumash Indians. While early settlement was sparse due to the terrain, the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad in the 1890s spurred development. Today, Oceano Park provides a range of activities and amenities. Visitors can enjoy a playground, a basketball court, and horseshoe pits. The park also features a large group area with a BBQ and seating for up to 70 people, making it ideal for picnics, family reunions, and company events. Its location is a major draw, situated across from Oceano Memorial Campground and Lagoon, and within walking distance of Pismo Beach State Park and the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. The nearby Oceano Dunes offer a unique landscape and recreational opportunities. Here, visitors can traverse the dunes in ATVs, hike along the windswept sand, or enjoy surf fishing. The Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area is one of the few beaches in California where driving is permitted. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, the Oceano Lagoon Trail provides an easy 1.3-mile loop for hiking and bird watching. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly park, a base for exploring the dunes, or a place to connect with nature, Oceano Park offers a diverse range of experiences in a beautiful coastal setting.
