Discover more about Golden Hill Park

Golden Hill Park, a charming green space in San Diego's historic Golden Hill neighborhood, provides a tranquil escape with panoramic views of the downtown skyline. As an extension of Balboa Park, it offers a blend of natural beauty and historical significance. The park's history dates back to the early 20th century when local residents largely financed its development. Today, visitors can explore walking paths, relax on grassy fields, and enjoy a picnic under the shade of large trees. The park is also home to the oldest remaining feature in Balboa Park, a rustic Arts & Crafts-style fountain designed in 1907 by architect Henry Lord Gay. This fountain, while currently on SOHO's most endangered list, is a testament to the park's rich heritage. While exploring the park, take a moment to appreciate the diverse flora, including Bunya Pines and Moreton Bay Figs. The park also offers a glimpse into the area's Kumeyaay history, as it was the site of the last remaining Kumeyaay village when others were placed on reservations.
