The Whaley House Museum is easily accessible via public transportation. The San Diego Trolley's Blue and Green lines stop at the Old Town Transit Center, about an 8-minute walk away. From the transit center, walk north on San Diego Avenue towards Old Town. The Whaley House will be on your left, a short distance past the main cluster of shops and restaurants. A single ride on the trolley costs $2.50.

If you are already in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, the Whaley House Museum is within easy walking distance. From the main plaza, head north on San Diego Avenue. You'll pass several shops and restaurants. The Whaley House will be on your left, set back slightly from the street. Look for the distinctive two-story Greek Revival building.

Driving to the Whaley House Museum is possible, but parking in Old Town can be limited, especially during peak season. There is free parking available at Old Town State Park. On evenings and weekends when parking can be very difficult, you can use the CALTRANS parking lot at 4050 Taylor Street, about a half mile walk away. Street parking is also available, but many spots limit parking time to 2 or 3 hours. If you find street parking, be sure to check the time limits. There are no parking fees.
