Getting There

  • Walking

    From Fisherman's Wharf, head southeast on Jefferson Street toward Powell Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Powell Street. Turn left onto Powell Street and walk for about 0.4 miles until you reach the Embarcadero. At the Embarcadero, turn right and walk along the waterfront. After about 0.3 miles, you will arrive at Pier 15 where the Exploratorium is located. The total walking distance is approximately 0.7 miles, which should take around 15-20 minutes.

  • Public Transit - Muni Bus

    From Fisherman's Wharf, you can take the Muni Bus Line 47 (the 47 bus stop is located near the intersection of Jefferson and Taylor Streets). Board the bus and ride for 3 stops, getting off at the 'Embarcadero & Green St' stop. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk: head northeast on Green Street toward the Embarcadero, then turn left on the Embarcadero and walk to Pier 15. The bus fare is $3.00 for a one-way trip.

  • Cable Car

    From Fisherman's Wharf, walk to the Powell-Hyde Cable Car turnaround at the intersection of Powell and Beach Streets. Board the cable car, which travels toward Powell Street. Ride for 2 stops until you reach the 'California St & Drumm St' stop. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk: head east on California Street, then turn right onto the Embarcadero and walk south to Pier 15. The cable car fare is $8.00 for a one-way trip.
