Walking
If you are in downtown Santa Barbara, start at State Street, which is the main street. Walk towards the ocean until you reach Cabrillo Boulevard. Turn left onto Cabrillo Boulevard and follow it west until you reach the intersection with Shoreline Drive. Continue walking along the shoreline, enjoying the views. After about 20 minutes, you will see the entrance to Douglas Family Preserve on your right. The preserve is well marked, so you shouldn't miss it.

Biking
For a bike ride to Douglas Family Preserve, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in downtown Santa Barbara. Head towards State Street and ride west until you reach Cabrillo Boulevard. Turn left on Cabrillo Boulevard and continue until you reach Shoreline Drive. Turn right onto Shoreline Drive and keep going until you see the entrance to Douglas Family Preserve on your right. This route is scenic and should take about 15 minutes.

Public Transportation
To reach Douglas Family Preserve using public transportation, take the MTD bus Line 1 from downtown Santa Barbara. Board the bus at the stop nearest to your location and ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop for Shoreline Drive. Once you get off the bus, walk a short distance west on Shoreline Drive; the entrance to Douglas Family Preserve will be on your left. The entire trip should take around 30 minutes, depending on the bus schedule.
