  • Public Transit

    To reach Alum Rock Park from Santa Clara using public transit, start at the Santa Clara Transit Center. Board the VTA Light Rail on the Green Line towards Old Ironsides. Ride for 6 stops (approximately 15 minutes) and get off at the 'Gish Station'. Transfer to Bus Line 70 at the Gish Station bus stop. Board the bus towards 'Eastridge' and ride for 9 stops (about 20 minutes) until you reach 'Alum Rock Ave & Penitencia Creek Rd'. From there, walk approximately 0.5 miles northeast along Penitencia Creek Rd until you reach the entrance of Alum Rock Park located at 15350 Penitencia Creek Rd, San Jose, CA 95127.

    If you prefer to bike, start from downtown Santa Clara. Head east on El Camino Real for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with San Tomas Expressway. Turn left on San Tomas Expressway and continue for 1.5 miles. Then, turn right on Alum Rock Ave and proceed for about 2 miles. Follow Alum Rock Ave as it curves into Penitencia Creek Rd, which will lead you directly to Alum Rock Park. The total distance is approximately 6 miles and should take about 30-45 minutes, depending on your cycling speed.
