Hiking
If you are in Sequoia National Park, start at the Lodgepole Visitor Center. From there, head east on the Crescent Meadow Road until you reach the junction where it meets the Generals Highway (CA-198). Turn left onto Generals Highway and follow it for about 8 miles until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the Giant Forest. Continue straight to stay on CA-198. After about 2 miles, look for the sign for the entrance to the Sequoia National Park. Enter the park and proceed to follow the park trails that lead to the southern areas, towards the foothills. Be prepared for a challenging hike as this will take you through various terrains. The total hiking distance from Lodgepole Visitor Center to Balch Park is approximately 20 miles, and it could take a full day to reach your destination, so plan accordingly.
Public Transportation + Hiking
From Sequoia National Park, take a bus or shuttle service that operates in the region to the nearest town, Springville.
