Discover more about Muller House Museum

Step back in time at the Muller House Museum, a beautifully maintained Colonial Revival home that offers a captivating glimpse into San Pedro's past. Built in 1899 for Edward Mahar's parents, the house was purchased in 1901 by William Muller, a shipbuilder who constructed many of the ships that traveled between San Pedro and Santa Catalina Island. Muller made significant additions to the house, including rich wood paneling and hand-carved details. The house was moved twice, once to accommodate the widening of Front Street, before being donated to the San Pedro Bay Historical Society in 1986. The Society then moved it to its current location overlooking San Pedro Bay and opened it as a museum in 1990. Today, the Muller House Museum features exhibits of Muller family memorabilia, items from the Historical Society's archives, and contributions from personal collections, offering visitors a chance to revisit San Pedro's earlier days. Open to the public on Sundays, the museum provides guided tours that bring the home's history to life. Visitors can explore the furnished rooms, admire the period décor, and learn about the Muller family and their contributions to the community. The museum also hosts special events and talks of historical interest, making it a vibrant center for local history.
