Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Tahoe City (intersection of Highway 89 and North Lake Boulevard), head east on North Lake Boulevard. After 0.2 miles, the trailhead is on your left, just past the Tahoe City Public Utility District. Follow the signs to the Tahoe Rim Trail.

  • Public Transport

    Take the TART (Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit) bus to Tahoe City. From the Tahoe City Transit Center, follow the walking directions above to reach the trailhead (approximately a 5-minute walk). A single ride on TART costs $2.

  • Driving

    From Highway 89 in Tahoe City, turn onto Fairway Drive. Continue a short distance to the 64 Acres Park, where the trailhead is located. Parking is free. Be aware that parking can be limited, especially during peak season.

Approximately half of the trail is open to mountain bikes, and equestrians can access most of the route. The TRT also intersects with the Pacific Crest Trail for about 50 miles.
