From Tahoe City, the recreation area is a short walk east along Highway 28. The campground is located 0.25 miles east of Tahoe City on Highway 28. Follow the bike path along the lake for a scenic route. The walk is generally flat and takes about 5-10 minutes from the center of town.

Public Transport
Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) provides bus service to Tahoe City. From the Tahoe City Transit Center, walk east along Highway 28 or the lakefront bike path to reach the recreation area. The walk is approximately 0.25 miles and takes about 5-10 minutes. TART Connect offers free curb-to-curb service and connections to TART's Truckee Night Service. All rides are free on TART. Truckee Dial-a-Ride Fares cost $6.00 for One-Way (Cash Fare).

From anywhere in Tahoe City, follow Highway 28 east. The recreation area is located 0.25 miles east of Tahoe City on Highway 28. Limited parking is available within the recreation area. Several public parking lots are available in Tahoe City, including the Jackpine Public Parking Lot and the Grove Street Parking Lot. Parking on the street is limited to 2 hours during peak seasons. Parking costs in Tahoe City vary. Some lots offer free parking, while others charge hourly or daily rates. Be sure to check posted signs for current rates and restrictions. As of June 2025, paid parking lots in Kings Beach (a short drive from Tahoe City) charge $2 per hour for short-term parking (up to 2 hours), $10 for all-day parking, and $20 for holidays.
