Discover more about Zuma Beach

Zuma Beach, located at 30000 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, is a quintessential Southern California beach experience. Boasting 1.8 miles of beach frontage and 105 acres of property, Zuma is characterized by its expansive, flat sandy terrain and clear waters. Originally part of the Rancho Topanga Malibu Sequit, the area was transformed into a private ranch by Frederick and Rhoda May Rindge in the late 19th century. Zuma's name may be linked to a misspelling of Point Dume on an early map, or it may come from the Chumash word for "abundance". Over time, Zuma has evolved into a beloved public beach, known for its cleanliness and family-friendly environment. Zuma Beach offers a range of activities, including swimming, surfing, bodyboarding, and windsurfing. Volleyball courts are available for those who prefer land-based activities. Lifeguard stations are strategically positioned to ensure the safety of beachgoers, as the beach is known for occasional rough surf and riptides. The beach has also served as a popular filming location for movies and television shows, including "Planet of the Apes" and "Baywatch". Zuma Beach provides various amenities, including restrooms, showers, and food stands. Beach wheelchairs and access mats are available to ensure inclusivity for all visitors.
