If you are driving from downtown Edmonton, head southeast on 107 Avenue NW toward 97 Street NW. Merge onto the Yellowhead Highway (AB-16) and follow the signs for Fort Saskatchewan. Continue on AB-16 until you reach the junction with AB-2 South. Merge onto AB-2 South and follow the highway toward Calgary. After approximately 2.5 hours, take exit 125 for ON-416 toward Ottawa. Continue on ON-416, which leads into Ottawa. Once in Ottawa, follow the signs for Rideau Canal, which is located in downtown Ottawa.

To reach Rideau Canal using public transit, start by taking the Edmonton LRT (Light Rail Transit) to the Century Park Station. From there, transfer to a bus heading to Edmonton International Airport. Board a direct flight to Ottawa. Once you arrive at Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, you can take the OC Transpo Route 97 bus toward downtown Ottawa. Get off at the Rideau Centre stop.
