Getting There

  • Walking

    The Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site is located beneath the Dufferin Terrace, next to the Château Frontenac in Old Quebec. From most points within Old Quebec, it is easily accessible by foot. Head towards the Dufferin Terrace and look for the Frontenac Kiosk to get your entrance ticket. Then enter the site through the Lorne kiosk.

  • Public Transport

    The Réseau de transport de la capitale (RTC) bus system serves Old Quebec. Bus routes Nos. 3, 11 and 21 will take you nearby the historic site. From the bus stop, walk towards the Dufferin Terrace and the Château Frontenac. The Frontenac Kiosk, where you obtain your entrance ticket, is located on the Dufferin Terrace. A single fare is CA$3.75. Note: Due to a maintenance workers' strike at the RTC, no bus service will be available starting July 4, 2025 at 5:20 a.m. and for the duration of the strike, which is expected to last until July 13.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available in Quebec City. Ask to be dropped off at the Château Frontenac or the Dufferin Terrace. From there, the Frontenac Kiosk is a short walk away. Taxi fares are based on a metered rate with a base rate of approximately CA$4.55, plus CA$1.75 per kilometer. A short trip within Old Quebec should cost around CA$11.
