Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the city of Coyhaique, which is the capital of the Aysén Region. Take the Route 7 (Carretera Austral) heading south. Drive approximately 20 km until you reach a junction. At the junction, turn left onto Route 245. Continue on Route 245 for about 30 km until you see signs for Cascada Del León. There is a parking area available nearby where you can leave your car. The waterfall is a short walk from the parking area, so be prepared to hike a bit to reach the viewing point.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Coyhaique to Puerto Aysén. The bus departs from the Coyhaique bus terminal, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Puerto Aysén, look for local transport options such as shared taxis or minibuses that head towards Cascada Del León. Make sure to confirm that the driver is going to the waterfall, as some may not directly go there. The fare for the shared transport should be around CLP 3,000 to CLP 5,000. Keep in mind that the frequency of local transport may vary, so it’s wise to check the schedules in advance.
Hiking
If you are an adventure seeker and wish to hike to Cascada Del León, you can start from the nearest village. From Puerto Aysén, you can hike along the trails that lead to the waterfall.
