By Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey in the city of Valdivia, the capital of Los Ríos Region. From Valdivia, take Route 5 towards the south. Follow this route for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach the town of Futrono. Once in Futrono, look for signs directing you to Hijuela 5 Fundo Chihuío. You will need to turn off onto a smaller road leading to the hot springs, which is about 10 kilometers from the center of Futrono. The entire drive should take about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
By Public Transportation
To reach Termas Chihuio via public transportation, take a bus from Valdivia to Futrono. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes around 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Futrono, you can either hire a taxi or take a local bus that goes towards Hijuela 5 Fundo Chihuío. Make sure to confirm the bus schedule and availability as they may vary, especially on weekends. The taxi ride from Futrono to the hot springs will take about 15-20 minutes. Expect to pay around CLP 5,000 to 7,000 for the taxi fare.
Combination (Bus and Taxi)
An alternative method is to take a bus from Valdivia to Futrono, as mentioned above. After arriving in Futrono, you can walk to the main square and find taxis available for hire. This method allows you to get a feel for the local area while ensuring you reach Termas Chihuio comfortably. The total cost for the bus is around CLP 3,000 to 5,000, plus the taxi fare of about CLP 5,000 to 7,000.
