Car
From Santiago city center, take Route 5 Sur (Panamericana) heading south. Continue for about 30 kilometers until you reach the exit for San José de Maipo (Ruta G-25). Follow Ruta G-25 for approximately 15 kilometers, passing through the town of San José de Maipo. Look for signs directing you toward the entrance of the El Morado Natural Monument. After entering the park, continue on the dirt road leading toward Nevado Piquenes. Be prepared for rough terrain and ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road driving. The total driving distance is around 50 kilometers, which may take about 1.5 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.

Public Transportation (Bus)
Start at the 'Pajaritos' metro station in Santiago and take a bus to San José de Maipo. Buses towards San José de Maipo can be found at the terminal next to the metro station. The fare is approximately CLP 1,300. The bus ride will take about 1 hour. Once you arrive at San José de Maipo, you can take a local taxi or shared taxi (colectivo) towards the entrance of the El Morado Natural Monument. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around CLP 5,000-7,000. From the park entrance, you will need to hike or use a private vehicle to reach Nevado Piquenes as it is located further inside the natural monument.

If you are already at the El Morado Natural Monument, you can hike to Nevado Piquenes. The hike is challenging and requires good physical condition. Follow the marked trails from the park entrance, and be sure to bring plenty of water and food. The trail to the peak takes around 3-4 hours of hiking one way, so plan your trip accordingly. Always check the weather conditions before heading out, as they can change rapidly in the mountains.
