Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Puerto Natales. From Puerto Natales, follow Route 9 south towards Punta Arenas. After approximately 100 km, take the exit toward Route 255, heading toward the town of Cerro Castillo. Continue on Route 255 for about 40 km until you reach the junction with Route Y-290. Turn left onto Route Y-290 and follow it for around 30 km until you reach the parking area for Laguna Turquesa. Remember to bring cash for tolls along the way (approximately 500 CLP).
Public Transportation
To reach Laguna Turquesa via public transportation, take a bus from Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas. Buses leave frequently from the main terminal and the journey takes about 2 hours. Once in Punta Arenas, take another bus towards Cerro Castillo (check for availability as these may not run as frequently). After arriving in Cerro Castillo, you can hire a taxi to take you to the Laguna Turquesa parking area, which is about 30 km away. Expect to spend around 15,000 CLP for the taxi ride.
Hiking
If you are adventurous and prefer to hike, you can park your car at the designated parking area before Laguna Turquesa and begin your trek. The hike to the lagoon is approximately 5 km and takes about 1.5 hours. Follow the marked trails and enjoy the stunning views along the way. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry enough water and snacks for the hike.
