Walking
From the center of San Pedro de Atacama, head south on Calle Caracoles until you reach the junction with Calle Toconao. Turn left onto Calle Toconao and follow it until you reach the main road (Ruta 23). This is approximately a 10-15 minute walk. Once you reach Ruta 23, you can either continue walking towards the Licancabur Volcano or look for a local tour operator to join a guided tour, as access is generally restricted without permission.

If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in San Pedro de Atacama. Start from the main square and head south along Calle Caracoles, turning left onto Calle Toconao.
