Walking
If you are in the historic center of Cartagena, start by heading towards the Plaza de los Coches. From there, walk down Calle San Pedro Claver until you reach the wall surrounding the Old City. Continue along the wall until you arrive at the entrance of Baluarte de Santo Domingo, located at Playa de la Artillería. The fortress is directly adjacent to the beach, so you’ll have a beautiful view as you approach.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in the historic center. Start at Parque de la Marina and cycle along the waterfront promenade towards the Torre del Reloj. Continue past the Plaza de los Coches, then follow the wall towards Playa de la Artillería. You will arrive at Baluarte de Santo Domingo in about 15 minutes, enjoying the coastal views along the way.
Public Transport (Bus)
Find a local bus heading towards the Centro Historico. Get off at the stop near the Plaza de la Aduana. From there, walk towards the nearby Plaza de los Coches. Continue straight along the wall until you reach Baluarte de Santo Domingo at Playa de la Artillería. The bus ride is about 10 minutes, and the walk will take you around 5 minutes.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hail a taxi or use a rideshare app. Simply tell the driver 'Baluarte de Santo Domingo' or 'Playa de la Artillería.' The ride from any central location in Cartagena should take about 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic.
