If you are driving, start your journey from the city of Manizales. Take the route towards Villahermosa, which is approximately a 1.5 to 2-hour drive. Follow the signs for ‘Tolima’ and ‘Nevado del Ruiz.’ Once in Villahermosa, continue on the Vía al Nevado road. You will see signs indicating the direction to Laguna La Llorona. The last few kilometers are on a dirt road, so a 4x4 vehicle is advisable. Keep an eye out for the entrance to the lagoon, where you may need to park your car and walk a short distance to the lagoon.

From Manizales, you can take a bus to Villahermosa. Buses run frequently from the main terminal and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Villahermosa, you will need to take a taxi or a moto-taxi to reach Laguna La Llorona. Make sure to inform the driver of your destination, as it is a popular spot but not all drivers may know it by name. Expect to pay around 15,000 to 25,000 COP for the taxi ride.
