Parque de los Niños, also known as the 'enchanted forest' of Bucaramanga, is one of the city's main parks, offering a green retreat in the urban landscape. Located between carreras 26 and 27 with calles 30 and 32, it is recognized as one of the oldest and most traditional parks in the Santander capital. The park's history dates back to 1908 when the Bucaramanga City Council conceived the idea to create a recreational space for the community. General Eliseo Camacho donated a block of land and sold four and a half more to the municipality for its creation.Visitors can engage in various activities, including family strolls, sports, and exploring the park's history. The park features basketball and tennis courts, providing spaces for athletic activities. It also houses monuments, including one to José Antonio Galán, a leader of the Comuneros insurrection, and a 'clavijero de tiple' (stringed instrument) as a tribute to Santander composer José Alejandro Morales. The park is known for hosting community events, cultural activities, workshops, and fairs that celebrate local traditions and arts.While the park is open 24 hours, it is reported to be unsafe after dark. During the day, visitors can find street vendors offering snacks like ice cream and candies, especially on weekends.
