From Montrose, Colorado, drive 7 miles north on CO Highway 347 to reach the South Rim Visitor Center. The entrance fee is $30 per vehicle, valid for 7 days. Parking is available at the visitor center and various overlooks along the South Rim Road. Parking lots, especially at the visitor center, can fill up during peak season. There are no additional parking fees.

There is no public transportation directly to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The nearest airport is Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), where you can rent a car.
