Founded in August 2012, Prost fills a niche in the craft beer scene by focusing exclusively on German-style biers, brewed with equipment and ingredients imported directly from Germany. The brewery's name, 'Prost,' is a German word meaning 'To your health,' or 'cheers,' setting the tone for a convivial atmosphere. Prost distinguishes itself by adhering to the 'German Purity Laws' (Reinheitsgebot), which dictate that beer can only be brewed using high-quality ingredients: water, barley, hops and yeast. The brewery uses a copper brewhouse originally built in 1963 by Ziemann GmbH and installed at the Bucher Brau in Grafenau, Germany. In 2011, Prost Brewing Company acquired the equipment and brought it to Denver.
