Larimer Square, located on the 1400 block of Larimer Street, marks the original site of Denver City. Founded in 1858 by William Larimer, it quickly became the city's central business hub, housing its first bookstore, bank, and photographer. In 1971, it became Denver's first protected historic district, setting a precedent for preservation efforts. Today, Larimer Square is a lively destination, offering a blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment. Its Victorian buildings house unique boutiques, chef-driven restaurants, and entertainment spaces, hosting special events like the Larimer Sessions summer concert series. Visitors can explore the Walkway Gallery, showcasing local artists, or take a guided walking tour to learn about Denver's history. Comedy Works Downtown, a renowned comedy club, adds to the entertainment options.
