Established in 1964 and moved to the former Colorado State Armory in 1991, the museum is dedicated to preserving the legends and artifacts of the Old West. The museum's exhibits span millions of years, from prehistoric fossils to the technological advancements of the 20th century. One of the highlights is the world-renowned Cowboy and Gunfighter Collection, featuring an extensive array of firearms, saddles, spurs, and other cowboy paraphernalia. See rare Winchesters and Colts, along with items belonging to famous figures like outlaw Harry Tracy and African American cowboy Isam Dart. Explore exhibits dedicated to the area's pioneers, mining and ranching industries, and Native American heritage.
