From Steamboat Springs, take the Steamboat Springs Transit bus to the 'Mountain Village' stop. Once there, transfer to the Route 2 bus heading towards the 'Howelsen Hill' area. Get off at the stop closest to the 'Steamboat Springs Skate Park'. From this point, you will need to walk to the nearby intersection of US-40 and CO-131.

Once you reach the intersection of US-40 and CO-131, walk north along CO-131. You will follow this road for about 12 miles. Enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding mountains. Continue on CO-131 until you reach the junction with RCR 129. Follow RCR 129 for about 3 miles, and you will arrive at Steamboat Lake State Park.

If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Steamboat Springs. Start by biking north on CO-131, which has a bike lane for your safety. After about 12 miles, look for the turn-off onto RCR 129.
