Mueller State Park is located southwest of Colorado Springs. From Colorado Springs, take US-24 West through Woodland Park to the town of Divide. Turn left onto Highway 67 South and drive approximately 3.5 miles. Look for signs indicating the park entrance. A daily vehicle pass costs $10-$12. Parking is available at the visitor center and various trailheads.

From Colorado Springs, a taxi or rideshare to Mueller State Park will take approximately 45 minutes and cost between $110 and $140. This is a convenient option for those without a vehicle, but it is the most expensive. Be sure to arrange for a return trip in advance, as services within the park are limited.

Mueller State Park, nestled in the western foothills of Pikes Peak near Divide, Colorado, is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Encompassing 5,121 acres, the park boasts a diverse landscape ranging from spring-fed meadows and dense forests of aspen and conifers to striking rock outcroppings. Shaped by ancient geological forces, the park offers a unique glimpse into the region's natural history. Originally a Ute hunting ground, the area was later settled by ranchers and farmers during the Pikes Peak and Cripple Creek gold rushes. W.E. Mueller assembled several ranches into a gaming preserve, which was then acquired by the Nature Conservancy and Colorado Parks and Wildlife to establish the state park in 1988. Today, Mueller State Park is the second most visited park in Colorado, offering a wide array of activities throughout the year. With over 55 miles of trails, hikers, bikers, and horseback riders can explore the park's diverse terrain. Popular trails include the School Pond Loop, Peak View Campground Loop, and Cheesman Ranch Loop, offering varying levels of difficulty and scenic views. In winter, visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and sledding. The park is also a prime location for wildlife viewing, home to elk, mule deer, black bears, bighorn sheep, hawks, and various bird species. The diverse habitats support a wide range of plant life, from native grasses and wildflowers to stands of spruce, fir, pine, and aspen. Camping is available year-round with 132 campsites, including walk-in tent sites and RV sites with electric hookups. For a more comfortable stay, three cabins are available for rent.
