Discover more about More Barn

More Barn, affectionately known as the Steamboat Barn, stands as a beloved emblem of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Constructed between 1926 and 1928 by Martin “Chick” Yock, a local cattle rancher, the barn was built in the prairie style to store hay and feed for his Holstein dairy cattle. The Yock family had purchased the 160-acre parcel where the barn sits in 1903. In 1957, Willard O. “Jerry” More and his wife Geneva purchased the property from Yock, adding it to their adjacent land. Over the years, the More Barn has evolved from a functional agricultural structure to a celebrated landmark. Its image has been widely used in Steamboat Springs' marketing, most notably in a 1970s poster showcasing two horseback riders with skis. This iconic image captured the essence of Steamboat's Western lifestyle and its identity as Ski Town, USA. Today, the More Barn is located in Barn Village, a residential neighborhood between downtown Steamboat and the ski resort. Visitors can explore the four-acre park surrounding the barn, taking in views of the surrounding landscape. The barn serves as a reminder of Steamboat Springs' transformation from a ranching community to a popular tourist destination.
