Getting There

• Car

  To reach Housatonic Overlook by car, start by getting onto I-95 N from your current location in Long Island Sound. Follow I-95 N for approximately 30 miles. Take exit 39A for I-91 N toward Hartford. After about 9 miles, take exit 17 for Route 34 toward New Haven. Continue on Route 34 for about 10 miles until you reach Orange. Turn left onto Cedar Grove and follow it until you see Housatonic Overlook at 671 Cedar Grove. There is no parking fee.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, take a Metro-North train from your nearest station to New Haven. Upon arriving in New Haven, transfer to the CT Transit bus # 223 towards Orange. Get off at the Cedar Grove stop. Housatonic Overlook is a short walk from the bus stop, located at 671 Cedar Grove. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as frequencies may vary. The cost for the Metro-North ticket depends on your starting location, and the bus fare is typically around $1.75.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer to bike, you can take the scenic route along the coastline. Start from any point along Long Island Sound and head towards Orange via the coastal roads. Depending on your starting point, this could be a longer ride. Use a GPS or a map application to navigate to Cedar Grove, where Housatonic Overlook is located at 671 Cedar Grove. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local biking regulations.
