From the Fordham station, you can either walk or take a local bus. If walking, exit the station and head west on East 190th Street, then turn right onto Southern Boulevard. The New York Botanical Garden will be on your left at 2900 Southern Blvd.

Book a ticket to New York City, and let the driver know you want to get off at the Bronx. Once you arrive in the Bronx, you can take the Bx12 bus from the nearest bus stop to the drop-off point towards the Bronx Zoo. Get off at the stop near the New York Botanical Garden; it will be a short walk to the entrance at 2900 Southern Blvd.
