Getting There

• Car

  From anywhere in Windham County, head towards Route 83. If you're coming from Willimantic, take Main St (Route 66) to Route 83 North. If you're coming from Putnam, take Route 44 to Route 83 South. Continue on Route 83 until you reach Gulf Rd in Somers. Turn left onto Gulf Rd, and follow it until you reach 263 Gulf Rd, where the entrance to Shenipsit State Forest-Soapstone Mountain is located. Parking is available at the site.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transportation, take a bus to the nearest town with service, which is likely to be Hartford or Willimantic. From Hartford, you can take CT Transit bus #41 to Enfield. Once in Enfield, you may need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to reach 263 Gulf Rd, Somers, CT 06071. Make sure to check the latest bus schedules as they may vary. Note that taxi or rideshare services will incur additional costs.

• Bicycle
