    From Avarua town center, Rarotonga is easily explored on foot. The main road, Ara Tapu, circles the island and provides access to many shops, restaurants, and cultural sites. Walking along the beach is also a great way to experience the island's beauty. No cost.

The 'Clockwise' and 'Anti-Clockwise' buses depart from the main bus stop in Avarua. A single ride costs around NZ$5, or you can purchase a day pass for approximately NZ$16, allowing unlimited travel.
