Getting There

Walking
From the center of Avarua, head east on the main road (Ara Tapu) towards the Avatiu Valley. Continue straight along Ara Tapu for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with a small road leading to the right. This road is marked towards the Avatiu Valley. Turn right onto this road and follow it for another 300 meters until you reach a small parking area. The path to Te Rua Manga (The Needle) begins here. It may require a bit of climbing, so ensure you have appropriate footwear.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Avarua. Start from the center of Avarua and cycle east along Ara Tapu for approximately 1.5 kilometers. Turn right at the intersection towards the Avatiu Valley and continue biking on the small road for another 300 meters. You will find a parking area where you can leave your bike. The hiking trail to Te Rua Manga (The Needle) starts from this parking area.

Public Transport (Bus)
Catch a local bus from the main bus stop in Avarua heading towards Avatiu. The bus will take you along Ara Tapu. Get off at the stop closest to the Avatiu Valley. From there, walk along the side road that leads into the valley for about 300 meters until you reach the parking area. The trail for Te Rua Manga (The Needle) starts from this point. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return times.
