Muri Lagoon itself is renowned for its calm, shallow waters, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Walking
Muri Retreat is located in the hills, approximately 500m from Muri Lagoon. From the main road in Muri, walk inland towards the hills, following signs for Muri Retreat. The walk is uphill and takes approximately 10-15 minutes. There are no costs associated with walking.
Public Transport
The bus is a convenient way to reach the Muri area. From Avarua, take the Clockwise bus. Ask the driver to stop near the road leading up to Muri Retreat; from there, it's a 10-15 minute walk uphill. Bus fare is approximately NZ$5.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout Rarotonga. A taxi from Rarotonga Airport to Muri Retreat costs approximately NZ$40. From Avarua, expect to pay around NZ$18-22. Ensure the driver knows the location of Muri Retreat in the hills overlooking Muri Lagoon.
