Walking
From Avarua town center, head south on Ara Tapu. Continue for about 20 minutes until you reach the intersection with the main road. St Joseph's Cathedral is located just off this road on your right. Look for the large white building with a distinctive steeple.

Take a local bus from anywhere on the island to Avarua. Buses circle the island regularly in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. Disembark at the main square in Avarua and walk south along Ara Tapu for about 10 minutes. St Joseph's Cathedral will be on your right, just past the intersection. Bus fare is approximately NZ$3 - NZ$13.
